Add-on accessories for XTM

We've collected some software accessories for XTM to help our customers get the most out of their DOS applications. These can be downloaded free from this page. Some of these are DOS drivers or applications, and are the same whether you are using a Nokia or Psion device. The different screen fonts - Code Pages - are operating system specific and you must choose the correct download for your handheld device.

A brief explanation of each add-on is included below, and more details are included in the zip files. If you have other questions about XTM, please check our support FAQ, or send email to support@nb-info.co.uk

Different screen fonts for XTM

Modern PCs have screen character sets - called Code Pages - that can be changed in software from DOS. The original PC/XT had the screen character set in ROM, so it was fixed at the factory. The only way of changing the code page was by changing chips on the graphics adapter. XTM is like the original PC - you can't change the Code Page from DOS - but with these downloads you CAN change the contents of the ROM, by installing a new XTM font file.

Download NOKIA CP 850 (24 k bytes)
Download PSION CP 850 (24 k bytes)
Code page 850 is the "international" character set used by most Western European PCs.
Download NOKIA CP 866 (24 k bytes)
Download PSION CP 866 (24 k bytes)
Code page 866 includes the Cyrillic character set used by most Russian PCs.
Download NOKIA CP 737 (24 k bytes)
Download PSION CP 737 (24 k bytes)

Code page 737 (also called 437G in some references) contains Greek characters, and is used by Greek PCs.

Download NOKIA CP 437 (24 k bytes)
Download PSION CP 437 (24 k bytes)

Code page 437 is the original US PC character set, and is the one included as standard with XTM.

Blank Diskettes

XTM supports most of the standard diskette sizes used by PCs, including 360K, 720K, 1.2M, 1.44M and 2.88M diskettes. Simply install the correct size of diskette image file, and XTM will configure the BIOS to match. XTM has two diskette drives, A: and B:, and you can use XTM to copy files between different diskette sizes. To make a diskette image in the first place, you either need a full image management application (we like WinImage), or a diskette drive of the same size. If you don't have multiple diskette drives, but you want to experiment with different sizes, we've provided you with blank formatted diskettes, just like the ones you buy at the store - except these are virtual diskettes, and they are free!

5 1/4 inch floppy disk Download 360k diskette image (1,785 byte zip file)
Download 1.2M diskette image (2,621 byte zip file)
3 1/5 inch diskette Download 720k diskette image (2,141 byte zip file)
Download 1.44M diskette image (2,860 byte zip file)
Download 2.88M diskette image (4,300 byte zip file)

DOS Programs

We've written several special DOS programs and drivers to help our customers use XTM. Here are two of the most popular ones:

Download CGA TSR (729 bytes)

Some software incorrectly identifies our MCGA video adapter type as an EGA or VGA because we support extended video BIOS functions. This little TSR blocks all non-CGA BIOS calls, so that the adapter will be treated as a CGA.

Download Clock program (644 bytes)

Depending on the DOS applications you are using, the XTM DOS clock may lag behind the real clock in your handheld device. If that's a problem for you, this little DOS program reloads the DOS clock from the BIOS clock, resetting DOS time to match real time.
